Study for a bust of W. E. B. Du Bois by Lawrence Bradshaw, 1959

In addition to developing this bust of Du Bois, Bradshaw also designed Karl Marx’s tomb at Highgate Cemetery, London in 1955. Bradshaw’s artistic inclination confirms the equality of Du Bois to Lenin and Marx in shifting the paradigm of world thought towards the crisis of imperialism, albeit with special attention the problem of the color line and its implications for labor in the modern epoch.
